I was listening to the Dr. Denis Waitley’s Seeds of Greatness when he mentioned that the average time parents spent with their kids one on one in US is only about 7 minutes per week.
Can you believe it?
I was shocked when I heard that because that is really little but probably that was many years ago since Seeds of Greatness was produced quite some time back by Nightingale Conant.
However, when I thought about it myself, it seems like the amount of time I am spending with my 3 year old daughter is not that much either. I have been spending a lot of time working on the business and may at times neglected my family.
What about you? Have you been always saying that you are working so hard all for the sake of the family? But have you asked your family what do they really want?
Today, my daughter wanted my wife and I to spend some time with her and I offered to show her the Christmas Greetings card I have sent to all my friends and relatives, which she enjoyed very much watching it. I am really amazed by my daughter that at 3 years’ old, she knows how to use the mouse and click on the replay button!
Sometimes kids are just so easy to please but we just do not put in the effort to please them or spend time with them until it is too late when they have all grown up.
We will be having our 2nd kid in April and believe that both our kids will require more time from us and amidst all the busy schedule I have and the massive amount of things I have to attend to, I am committed to spend at least an hour a day do that.
If you are reading this post and have not spend time with your kids, don’t you think it is time to do so before it is too late? If you do not have kids yet but are planning to have one, this will be a good reference for you
Enjoy all those unforgettable moments with your kids. I am sure you can do it.
