Listen to your kids whatever you do and they will come back to listen to you!

I was listening Denis Waitley’s Seeds of Greatness where he was talking about communication with our kids when they are still with us. Denis and his wife has written a poem about communicating with kids and I felt that it makes so much sense that I copied it down and want to share with all parents out there. Enjoy:

“Take a moment to listen today to what your children are trying to say;
Listen today whatever you do or they won’t be there to listen to you;
Listen to their problems, Listen for their needs;
Praise their smallest triumphs, Praise their smallest deeds;
Tolerate their chatter, Amplify their laughter;
Find out what’s the matter, Find out what they are after;
Tell them that you love them every single night;
And though you scold them, Be sure you hold them tight;
Tell them everything is going to be all right, Tomorrow is definitely looking bright;
Take that moment to listen today to what your children are trying to say;
And listen today whatever you do and they will come back to listen to you!”

How was it? Do you like the poem?

Though I have not been spending ample time with my daughter because of my traveling schedule and my commitment to achieve financial freedom in the next 6 years, I am proud to say that I am always able to connect with my daughter in a very special way. However, I should not take that for granted since she will grow up one day and both quality and quantity time should be spent with my daughter to build our relationship.

I am committed to be a Great father, are you?
